Students for Children is a unique organization with a multicultural group of students who work voluntarily in handling all matters related to the NGO to spread equal access to education. The Board decides how to raise funds and what projects to invest in. We keep track of our projects through constant contact with our local partners and share our actions and vision with our partners, community and the general public.

Please keep in mind that our board positions are only open to students in Amsterdam and that this is a voluntary-based position! No monetary compensations will be applied.

Chair

Are you a good planner with the ability to see the “big picture”? Do you have good organisational skills? As chairperson you are the central point of the board. Together with the other board members you are responsible for the progression and continuity of the foundation. You connect the various parts of the organisation and are responsible for the policy that is pursued. The chairperson supervises the functioning of the board and ensures that it is complete. You plan chair meetings and ensure that everything is done to further develop the foundation. As a chairperson you have a clear vision. Moreover, you are the face of the foundation.

Responsibilities
– Continuity of the foundation

– Guaranteeing mission, vision and strategy
– Elaboration and compliance with policy and objectives
– Writing an annual report
– Representing the foundation and propagating its vision
– Supervising compliance with the statutes and internal regulations

– Supervise the performance of tasks and activities within the foundation
– Oversee progress of board activities and provide support where necessary

Treasurer

Have you got good communication and management skills? This is a combined role of treasury and acquisitions where you are responsible for the financial aspect of the foundation. You are in charge of soliciting potential partners and organising fundraising activities for Students for Children. Additionally, you will be in charge of drawing up the budgets, the annual financial reports and the cash flows, such as collecting donations and the payment of the funded projects. You are also the authorised representative at the ING bank. In coordination with the secretary, you provide the donation policy and communication with our donors.

Secretary

Do you have good organisational and administrative skills? Are you detail focused, but also able to oversee things? You found your match then: as secretary you support the chairperson in shaping, developing and propagating the policy of Students for Children. You are concerned with the organisation, structure and vision of the organisation. Most logistical and operational aspects of the foundation are your responsibility. You ensure a clear and efficient way of communication, both internally and externally. As secretary you have insight into the organisational structure, you know what it takes to ensure that everything runs smoothly and you are the “memory” of the foundation. This way, you facilitate the other board members to be able to perform their functions as well as possible.

Event Coordinator

Are you an organisational talent? Do you always come up with creative ideas and would you like to dedicate yourself to educational projects in developing countries? Then this vacancy is for you! As an event coordinator you will organise various events, from a pub quiz to a yoga class, from a secondhand clothing sale to a comedy night, all to raise money for the foundation. You are responsible for the successful realisation of the events. Besides that, you stay in contact with parties involved. You have a lot of freedom within the position. You are enthusiastic, enterprising and decisive.

Project Coordinator

Are you a critical thinker with good management and communication skills? Keep on reading then! As project coordinator you are involved with the content of the projects we support. You coordinate and monitor each project and guarantee its quality and authenticity. On behalf of the board you are the contact person for our project partners while keeping the board informed of all developments regarding the projects. You have a critical view of development work and you have a clear vision of what a good project looks like. In addition to monitoring our current project, you always keep your eyes open for new projects Students for Children can contribute to. Moreover, you are committed to ensuring that our projects are sustainable and impactful.

Responsibilities
– Communicating and guaranteeing the project criteria
– The quality and continuity of the projects;
– Realisation of new projects
– Communication between Students for Children and our local partners
– The translation between the projects and the public together with the marketing coordinator

– Develop and maintain a policy with regard to contracting and monitoring projects
– Search for new projects that meet our project criteria
– Translate the core values ​​of the foundation to its projects
– ensure open and continuous communication with the project partners
– Present our projects to the Netherlands in a creative way
– Provide regular updates regarding projects in the newsletter, on the website and social media 
– Together with the marketing coordinator and acquisition coordinator, you design an appropriate marketing and fundraising policy in which you safeguard the authenticity of the projects

Marketing Coordinator

Is creativity your passion? Do you take good care of the details and are you able to strategise? As Marketing Coordinator you are involved in increasing Students for Children’s brand awareness through various (online and offline) channels and increasing our findability on search engines. You work closely with the rest of the board, especially with the Event Coordinator when it comes to planning events and the Project Coordinator when it comes to updates and posts on the online/offline channels.

Responsibilities
– Development of the foundation’s marketing strategy
– Implementation of said marketing strategy
– Establishing contacts with partners and funds together with the acquisition coordinator
– Increase our online (social media, Google and the website) and offline reach

– Develop and maintain marketing strategy
– Attracting new sponsors together with the acquisition coordinator
– Representing the foundation and its core values ​​during fundraising campaigns
– Creating content for social media channels
– Create promotion materials for events and recruitment

Our board positions are only open to students based in Amsterdam.
Our positions usually take an average of 6-8 hours per week. Please note that is is voluntary work, thus, you will receive no monetary compensation.
