SES Valentine’s day Rose Sale & Borrel
For our collaboration with SES, the association held a borrel for its members on Valentine’s Day, where people could purchase roses in advance for their friends, loved ones or themselves. They could even request a small surprise card to go with the roses. With the rose sale we made €174!🌹
The beautiful roses were donated by a lovely florist, EZ Flower, in Aalsmeer. This is the second year they support our organisation and we are super thankful to them!
A super fun event in collaboration with AIM PPLE. But this wasn’t your regular charity auction – the board of AIM decided to help us raise money for our project REPTA, by completing different, mostly funny and embarrassing, challenges. There were legs being waxed, whipped cream smashed in faces and beer chugging competition.
Thanks to the brave committee of AIM, REPTA’s constructions were supported with a €150 to build and create a sanitary environment for children at the local primary school. Their lavatories and hand washing stations are expected to be implemented by the end of summer 2023.
You can check out our video of the event on our Instagram.
Before Christmas, from 19-25th of December we held Tikkie Week to raise money for REPTA (our project in Cameroon), to build new latrines and hand washing stations for children in Mousgouy. By the end of the week we managed to raise €245. We added all money that we raised to the fund for REPTA, so children can have a sanitary environment at school. Thank you all for your support!🤎
On December 9th we had a bake sale in collaboration with AIM, the study association of the PPLE faculty at the UvA. The board members of AIM brought delicious home made cakes and sweets to the event. What is more, Irmak, our chairwoman baked her famous triple chocolate cookies. Yum!
We raised €300 euros at the event and we would like to thank everyone the support. Special thank you to AIM for organising the sale!
All money raised goes to Repta, another project of ours in Cameroon.
The first event of the 2022/2023 board year was held on December 7th in collaboration with Pegasus. Pegasus organised a clothes sale in the common room at Roeterseiland Campus. Students could come by during the day, browse among the garments, have some nice chats and get some cool pieces. All items were donations from students and anything that was not sold at the event were donated to charity after.
Our board had a lot of fun setting up and taking part in the event. We are super happy we had the opportunity to collaborate with Pegasus and we are grateful for all their effort! We raised over €600 with the clothes sale – we couldn’t be happier, thank you all for the support! All money raised goes to ISUDEV, our project in Cameroon.
On Tuesday, May 3rd we organised a Pub Quiz event which a local café, Café de Jeugd, was generous enough to host for us. We tested our audience’s knowledge on actualities, sports, music and geography which created a great buzz and excitement in the room. We congratulate to our winning team, the bierpakket and branded glasses were well deserved! 🙂
We are also very thankful for everyone who made it to our pub quiz and supported our organisation! We managed to raise just over €500 with this event. We are super grateful to our donors, thank you all!
Valentine’s Day Rose Sale + Borrel with SES!
For Valentine’s Day, we decided to collaborate with Study association European Studies (SES), as they throw a yearly Valentine’s Day borrel. Together we organized a rose sale, of which the proceeds were donated to SfC. The students could either simply get a rose for someone else, or get a rose with a card as well. The roses were eventually handed out at the borrel, to friends, lovers, or people they just wanted to thank. The roses, about 80 of them, were graciously donated by EZ Flowers who have worked with SfC in the past as well. We ended up selling about 60 roses!
We would like to thank EZ Flowers for donating the roses and SES for donating their proceeds to us. All funds raised from the event will be used to sponsor one of our current projects.

Tikkie week for Mundo de Talentos
In the week of Christmas, we organised an online fundraiser ‘’Tikkie week,’’ in which we set up an open payment request through our Students for Children bank account to which people could donate any amount they wished towards one of our projects. We organised this event to support ‘’Mundo de Talentos,’’ a weekend school that offers guidance on work and study subjects through an intensive three-year program for children of public schools with the age of 10 to 13 years old in Chiapas, Mexico. The students participate every Saturday in the program. We posted this initiative on our social media platforms in order to raise funds for the project. Study association SES also shared our initiative on their Instagram stories. With this event, we raised a total of €939,11.
Crowdfunding with Yana Borisova for Toki Rapa Nui school
We collaborated with Yana Borisova and her piano students in Amsterdam on their initiative ‘Solidarity through music – play to help’ to raise funds for Toki Rapa Nui school of music and arts on Easter Island. Through a series of piano performances on YouTube, the students raised money for the school which has been facing financial difficulties due to COVID-19. The crowdfunding campaign has so far raised €2,929. Please note that the project being funded is not an SfC project.
Crowdfunding with Peter Nieuwland for Compassion for Humanity Ghana
Due to COVID-19, our “goed doen dag” event at Pieter Nieuwland college in Amsterdam was cancelled. Still they wanted to do something for charity. So we chose to organize a crowdfunding campaign on gofundme for our project in Ghana with Compassion for Humanity Ghana. We raised about €2000. This was more than we imagined, we’re very thankful to everyone who participated.
Easter Egg Sale!
Due to the corona crisis, we couldn’t sell the Easter eggs as we had in mind since all gatherings are postponed until the crisis is over. So we decided to sell the eggs to our close family, relatives and friends, following the guidelines of the RIVM and GGD. Thanks to Tony Chocolonely, we received 18 kg of chocolate eggs to sell. We sold every ounce of chocolate, which resulted in a profit of around €350! We are very grateful for their sponsorship.
Charity ice-skating with Kiem Montessori
On 13th March, we went ice-skating with some of the students from Kiem Montessori. Each skating round was sponsored by family members, neighbours or friends. During the activity, each of the children received a paper and we stamped the rounds they made. The kids were very competitive because they got founding for every round they skated! So the kids wanted to skate as many rounds as possible! Some of the kids even skated for more than 35 rounds – Very athletic!
Crafting self-sufficient villages with Kiem Montessori
We gave a presentation and class exercise at Kiem Montessori on 25th February about our work as Students for Children. Kiem Montessori is a very creative school, the kids have access to a creative working space, where they can create their own creativities during the week for school purposes. We asked the children to craft self-sufficient towns based on countries where our projects are located. Particularly, they had to consider how people create their living in the countries like in Uganda, India or Honduras. The kids had to brainstorm about water use, electricity and their budget for creating a self-sufficient village.
Valentine’s Day Rose Sale
We collaborated with the psychology study association of UvA VSPA for a collaboration. The flowers were sponsored by EY flower. We sold each flower for €2.5 with cash payment and €3 with card payment. However, the gala is relatively small in size. In the end, we made €134.5 from this event.
